Not only are there concerns related to the health of an unborn child, but some treatments that are prescribed to treat hormones acne breakout may result in depression and/or damage to the liver in women.
This is not to say that men cannot develop acne, but the presence of male acne is often related to oily skin. It has been determined that men have more oily skin than women, which is often a direct cause of male acne.
For those who do not want to pursue prescription-based medication for hormones acne breakouts, there may be home remedies that can treat the acne but will do little for the hormonal imbalance itself. An oatmeal and water mixture can be applied to the problem area for 10-20 minutes to help clear up a hormones acne breakout. In addition, a baking soda and water mixture will form a paste that may help to reduce the itching and redness associated with acne. Many prefer the use of a facial mask, which is available by grating an apple to a fine pulp and adding 4 tablespoons of honey to form a mask suitable for 10 minutes of wear.
